Melina Schönknecht

Melina Schönknecht is an employee and doctoral student in the subproject Z03 - Data Management and Bioinformatics (INF) of the CRC 1665. 

From 2014 to 2017, she studied German and Political Science at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. After completing her first Bachelor's degree, Melina began her second Bachelor's degree in Medical Engineering Science at the University of Lübeck in October 2017. 

Since her second Bachelor's thesis (‘Transfer Learning in MPI Reconstruction with Neural Networks’), Melina has mainly been working on topics in the field of machine learning. During her Master's degree in Medical Engineering Science at the University of Lübeck (2021-2024), she worked for Dräger and Fraunhofer MEVIS, among others, where she primarily conducted research in the field of medical image processing using machine learning. 

She successfully completed her Master's thesis (‘Domain adaptation for the prediction of airway segments in video bronchoscopy’) in September 2024. Melina has been part of the Medical Systems Biology group at the University of Lübeck since October 2024.
