Kaj Kähne is working and completing their doctorate in the sub-project S05 “Normative Implications of Human Rights of TIN* (trans, inter, non-binary) Persons in a Non-binary Legal World” of the Collaborative Research Center “Sexdiversity - Determinants, Meanings and Implications of Sex Diversity in Sociocultural, Medical and Biological Landscapes” (SFB 1665) at the Institute for History of Medicine and Science Studies (IMGWF) at the University of Lübeck.

Kaj studied philosophy and literature at the Ruhr University Bochum as well as psychology at the Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Bielefeld. As part of their final thesis, Kaj conducted a gender-theoretically informed empirical research project about psychotherapy experiences of trans* and non-binary people, examining the shortcomings of current counseling and psychotherapy for gender-diverse people.

In addition, Kaj was also practically engaged in psychological diagnostics and care through their employment at the Research and Treatment Center for Mental Health (FBZ) Bochum.
